Well crap.  As things stand at the moment, I'm in need of an anterior cervical decompression and fusion of the C5 and C6 vertebrae.   Embarrassed  My riding for the summer is out and I'll prolly not be ready to ride to the MotoGP race at Indy.  I'm trying to schedule and appointment for a second opinion at the moment.

Maybe I can get them to fuse the vertebrae at the ideal position for riding a sportbike?!

Ouch, I can't even imagine...

I suffered for the last two weeks, finally gave in and visited the Chiro...  He always fixes me up...  After 3 visits I was feeling good, then riding out of the barn on Wednesday, the garage door wasn't all the way down... (you can see where this is going) with my nolan face open I didn't see it and it nearly ripped my head off.

Now back feels better but neck is still sore as hell...  Dr. did twist and pop it pretty good so there is some relief.

Can't imagine surgery.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Well, it turns out I've got stuff a Chiro couldn't fix: Spinal Stenosis (narrowing of the spinal column) and bone spurs on the vertebrae that protrude into the too narrow spinal column.  And then the water skiing spill I took last saturday herniated a disc and that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Believe me, I don't want surgery, but the pre-existing problems put me at a higher risk for serious spinal injury.

Have you looked into the laser version.

I had that about three years ago and it helped considerably. Only missed a couple weeks of work too.

I'm up and around, sort of.   Tongue  Got my stitches out on Thursday.  X-rays look good so far.  Just 5 more weeks of wearing this stupid neck brace.  Angry

I don't know how long it will be until I can ride again though.  One of the neurosurgeons I talked to said to give up motorcycles.  The other one said motocrycles wouldn't be a problem.  Guess which one I'm listening too!

Hope all goes well. Most Docs try to find excuses to "make" people stop riding, so go on and do it.

It's never too late to start Smiley

A single beer/glass of wine per day is supposed to be good for ya, or so I've heard Smiley

Heck, I figured you and I were good to go for at least 50 years past that, all things considered. I guess we have slowed down of late though.
