Wow! The pick-up truck aspect is scary. I'm sure he would have preferred to complete the trip, but glad he walked away.
YES, The $300 he saved by dropping his collision insurance didn't play out as a good investment.
The best we could find was a $1300 UHaul one way rental, plus gas/food/lodging, etc.
The $600 for the fellow rider to transport it, plus plane fair was a deal. But he still has to contend with a jacked up bike.
With insurance, they would have helped with the bike, transportation and lodging. Maybe not 100% but it would have helped none-the-less.
