So, have you ever ....
« on: September 16, 2008, 08:41:11 PM »
Been stone cold sober and fallen out of the couch? Well, I have. Apparently last night while coughing (I'm getting over a cold), I could not longer breathe. I was sitting on the couch, trying to sit up, when I just stopped breathing. Fell face forward onto the coffee table (nice pump knot) and then over in the floor. I came to a few seconds later. Anyway, lots of fun last night. I did keep everyone from making me goto the ER. Oh, somehow I twisted my ankles in the fall to the floor - they feel real good today. Oh what a wonderful day.  ;D

BTW, when I came to, I thought I was sitting on the couch, though I way lying in the floor. I had no idea that I had become unconscious. And my first sight was my wife beating on me (trying to make me breathe, first step in proper first aid - 3 strikes to the back or chest). Julie won't let me drive today. Well, maybe more later. gotta go.

   No.

Hope everything is OK.   You're not old enough to be passing out without assistance.    Get better quick.

NSF Childrens:

I was making my way back up the body of my lovely wife on the sofa.  I was holding myself up with my left hand on the outside edge of the seating area and my right hand on the top of the back of the sofa.  My left foot was still on the floor and my right was on the sofa.  I was in a hover, basically.  By this time, I had her undivided attention and we were both becoming...focused.  Just as I was going for her right ear (on my left), my left hand slipped and I faceplanted onto the arm of the sofa.  My full weight came crashing down on 1/2 of her before I flipped off onto the floor.  Blood flow was immediately diverted to my face.  The task at hand became gutwrenching, hysterical laughter.  By the time all was said and done, and it took a while, we were sore and in tears...and not in the way I had expected.

Hope you feel better, Gar.

I work in an environment that uses liquid nitrogen for cryogenic testing of military avionics. Once I mistakenly breathed too much while in an enclosed space and passed out. Fortunatly, I fell out, into fresh air landing squarely on my butt. I was only out for a moment or two, but it was enough for my fingernails to turn blue (it is true). Other than pride and a slightly sore butt I was ok.

I apparently have bronchitis. Thus when coughing a lot, I could not breathe, or get any O2. Anyway, I have meds now including 2 inhalers and prednisone to take. Hopefully it will be gone soon.

Don't you still have a stash of that liquid sunshine? Strictly for medicinal purposes only, of course.

Out of sunbeams, but an old remedy in these parts is a concoction that is mostly bourbon and a few sugary things to make it taste better to wimmin an chillin. I ain't neither, so I just take the straight bourbon whiskey - strictly for medicinal purposes. 8)

Somehow got lost in the translation, but I'm back now (for what that's worth  ;) )

This story may contain TMI

Anyhow, a couple of months back I woke up in the middle of the night with some really bad gas pains. You know the ones that double you up in pain? Well, I went to the bathroom and sat on the throne to see what I could do about the matter at hand, and next thing I know I am lying halfway out of the bathroom on my face. Broke a crown off one of my front teeth, and got a knot on my chin, but other than that was ok-ish. I either passed out from the pain, or tripped on teh rug, but I'm leaning towards the former.

I've actually been to a few houses with EMS where this same thing occurred (talk about some embarrassed people). I can't remember the exact cause, but it had something to do with straining while, well, you know...and your blood pressure drops suddenly, you pass out, and fall off the toilet. It's apparently somewhat common.
