Removing decals from painted metal surfaces ? ?
« on: November 22, 2010, 03:36:35 AM »
I bought a used, enclosed trailer back in the summer.  The previous owner put a number of large, high-quality vinyl decals (for a bike mfg I don't own) on the painted aluminum areas. So far, I can't find a way to remove them. I've tried a heat gun, a heat lamp, WD-40, Rustoleum decal remover, a plastic scraper, my fingernails and probably a few more methods. These things just don't want to come off; and where I did get some sections off it left the ugly adhesive on the paint.

Any suggestions on successful methods of removal?

My only other alternative is to buy a Ducati.    ;D

Thanks!

You lost me at heat gun and WD-40.

I can ask around at work.

I ordered some of these based on a friend's suggestion.....   Plastic Razor Blades  :o

Hopefully they'll do the trick.   I'm still watching the classifieds for a good 998S in case I need a back-up plan.

That's the best option.

...or sandblast the stickers off.
