Well, my first trackday came and went with only a little drama.  Full report can be found on my blog by clicking www.reedsratrace.blogspot.com.  Its written for family members--folks that don't know much or anything about motorcycles and trackdays.

Basically, I had an awesome time, rode about 85 track miles during the day and didn't crash.

Good write-up Ty.   Glad you had a good, safe day.    My first day on a track was in the rain at Summit Point, so I can relate, except for the drying up part.    Sad

And how did I miss Angela getting her own bike?   Or maybe I knew.    Senility allows me to (re)discover new things all the time.

 Wink

Take all your money and spend it on crack instead.

You will thank me for this sage advice later.

Cooter wasn't so lucky his first track day in the rain. It wasn't fun. I still don't know what happened, and I was right behind him.

Anyway, great write-up and glad it went so well. I guess you probably know that I know exactly what its like with the last minute bike problems. Hope to make one of STT's track days this summer. Now that I got my bike back, I can look for a date to go.

Oh, and yes, it is like crack. More expensive, but I don't think any drug can be as good. Worth every $100 bill I've thrown away. And there have been way too many of those.

I'm going back for my second hit on Oct. 24th.  The VFR is working now, so I'll be taking it this time.  I'm praying for sun and 75 degrees.

I lied. I'm not taking the VFR.  I'm taking this:

Explanation is necessary, and congrats on the ride or new bike. However you get to ride a "new" bike on the track - its awesome. Grin

Alright, you asked for it...so here's the explanation.

Back in June, just before my first trackday, the VFR's charging system went kaput.  I worked like a dog to replace parts and upgrade the wiring before the trackday but do to getting 2 faulty stators in a row from Electrosport, the bike VFR wasn't ready in time.  So I took Angela's SV at the last minute.  Later I got a Rick's stator and thought all was good.  And it was for a couple months.  I went to ride the VFR to work on Monday and things started acting funny again.  I couldn't believe it!  5 days before I'm set to take the VFR to Barbers and it craps out on me again!!! I seriously think my particular VFR is scared of the track for some reason.   Angry

Anyway, Monday afternoon I'm explaning my frustration to Angela and in the same conversation mention to her that Buells are going for silly cheap right now.  She knows I've been eyeing the 1125R for a couple years now.  And when I told her what kind of prices folks are buying them for she said, "Lets call the dealer and see if they have any?"  I was shocked that she would suggest such a thing.  But I think she could sense how frustrated I was with the VFR.

So I called Bumpus HD in Memphis.  They had a white one in stock, my preferred color.  I called my boss, told him I wouldn't be at work on Tuesday as I was going to look at a bike.  Tuesday rolls around and we hauled the kids and the VFR up to Memphis.  I test rode the 1125R, loved it and bought it for $5500 OTD.  Grin They only offered a paultry $1500 for the VFR, so it came back home with us.  I'll sell it myself.

I rode the 1125R home from Memphis and was surprised at how comfy it was.  My midget frame really fits this bike well.  Maybe I can get a knee down tomorrow!

Now that is cool. I can't believe the prices they are going for. We need more pics.

Crappy picture taken at work on Wed:

The bike is awkward looking from certain angles, but it works so well from the seat.   Grin

I changed the oil in it last night and made a huge mess.  Two drain plugs and a cartridge oil filter.  Why couldn't Rotax do things like a normal bike?

Some might go so far as to call it UGLY. But we all know beauty is in the eye of the beerholder.

And thankfully, the looks are growing on me.

I love them and I always have. I like the 1200 better but I would not kick that out of the garage for sure!

Ya know, there's some irony in these pages somewhere. A HONDA being traded/sold to get a Buell/Harley because the HONDA is not reliable. For some reason, I think a a few people would not believe it. Personally, I love the Buell. But I drink Pabst, so ya know what I think about what most people think.  Cheesy Wink Grin  Ride on, and have fun. I wanna go bad!!!
